Romeo and Juliet! - A classic of the English literature of Shakespeare (so I thought before I've read it).

I thought about to read the play, when some school mates of mine made a presentation about it. It sounded very interesting and beautiful. Of course, I've heard a lot about the story before and once I started to watch the movie, but I didn't finished it. Now I wanted to start again ---> First: read the book - then watch the movie!

And then I read the play and I have to say, that I really don't know, why people love this story and its characters so much!

Really, I didn't like the story OR the characters AT ALL!

It all went so fast with the love story between them and then the marriage and suddenly the death of Romeo and Juliet.

I have to stay, I don't really like love stories. They are too romantic. It's not something for me to read so much about.

I mean, sentences like Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs aren't as good as I like.

I cannot feel the truly love between Romeo and Juliet. And I think, that Shakespeare isn't such a good writer.

BUT I really liked the character of Paris (the actual fiancee of Juliet). He's nice and loves Julia truly.

Well, Romeo and Juliet is a classic after all, of course. The story is famous and for so many people romantic and amazing. But I don't think so. And after all I thought: Now I've read a real English classic!
